A Titanic Challenge: Zakum Makes His Debut

The casual charm of MapleStory: Idle RPG is meeting its toughest test yet. Following the latest update on December 18, 2025, the iconic boss Zakum has officially emerged from the El Nath mines.

This multi-armed idol isn’t just a nostalgia trip; he represents a significant step up in difficulty, requiring players to optimize their skills and companions to survive.

Raid Rewards & Mechanics

Players can challenge Zakum across three difficulty levels—Easy, Normal, and Hard.

  • The Loot: Successful raiders have a chance to secure the legendary Zakum’s Helmet and the Aquatic Letter Eye Accessory, both essential for boosting Combat Power (CP) in the mid-to-late game.

  • Entry Tickets: Commanders receive three entry tickets per week to attempt the raid.

  • Practice Mode: If you run out of tickets, you can still enter Practice Mode to master the boss’s mechanics—such as the fire floor and arm smashes—without risking a wasted entry.

Guild Raids and the “Honorable Rock”

Starting December 26, 2025, the stakes get even higher with the launch of Guild Raids.

Once you have cleared the boss on Normal difficulty, you can join up to seven other guild members to take on Zakum together. This isn’t just for loot; the first ten guilds per server to successfully defeat Zakum will have their names permanently etched onto the in-game Honorable Rock (formerly known as the Memorial Rock), immortalizing their achievement for the entire server to see.

New Systems: Medals, Presets, and Holiday Cheer

The update brings more than just a boss. Several new systems have been added to streamline your experience:

  • Medal System: Fulfill specific gameplay conditions to earn and equip Medals. These are displayed beneath your nickname and provide permanent passive Inventory Effects to your stats.

  • Dungeon Presets: You can now save customized loadouts for specific dungeons, allowing you to instantly swap skills, companions, and artifacts tailored for different bosses.

  • Happyville Holiday Event: Visit the festive village of Happyville until January 29, 2026. Complete missions to earn Holiday Socks, which can be exchanged for limited-time Santa Costumes and rare upgrade materials.
